Home School Athletic Partnership

At Milledgeville Prep we are excited for the opportunity to partner with Home School/Online Program/Private School Students and Families.  That is one of the main reasons we have chosen to join the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association.  GICAA allows homeschool/Online and Virtual Program students to participate with a member school.  A Home/Online/Private School without that particular sport can participate.  GICAA refers to them as Alternative Education Students.

What are the requirements?

  • Must attend 40% of their school work at Home or Online/Virtual Program.  60% can be done at a Learning Center

  • Must live within 30 miles of Milledgeville Prep (As a Crow Flies). Click HERE to see if you qualify.

  • According to Georgia homeschool regulations, homeschool students must take an appropriate nationally standardized test at the end of their 9th grade year. Once a homeschool student has taken this test in the 9th grade, he/she will have three years left of eligibility in the GICAA.

  • According to Georgia homeschool regulations, homeschool students must take an appropriate nationally standardized test at the end of their 12th grade year. Once a homeschool student has taken this test in the 12th grade to fulfill graduation requirements, he/she is no longer eligible to play sports for a GICAA school.

  • Students enrolled in less than three full-time classes at a member school are considered AES athletes. Students enrolled in three or more full-time classes at a member school are considered a full-time student.

  • Public school students who attend school at a physical building (out of home) are not eligible to participate with a GICAA member school.

  • Students from other private schools may be considered AES athletes and may participate on a limited basis in athletics with GICAA member schools if the following qualifications are met:

    • The member school making the request must have a legitimate numbers problem in fielding a team in that sport.

    • The non-GICAA School cannot offer any sports through a competitive sports program.

    • The student must be enrolled as a full-time student in the non-GICAA School.

    • The student must live within a 30-mile radius of the GICAA member school.

    • Other eligible students must meet all eligibility requirements as stated in the Certification of Eligibility section.

  • Each Alternative Education Student will be required to Try-Out for each sport due to the GICAA Limit of AES students per team.  Limits below
